SAPS in Acornhoek visited Magabotsi Secondary School in Bushbuckridge on the 22 June 2018, for the substance abuse awareness campaign and to also to hand out sanitary towels to the learners and residents of Mandela and Matenteng.
Lieutenant General Mgwenya from Acornhoek Police station with Brigadier Masiya, Brigadier Nyathi, Colonel Mayindi, Colonel Mabunda, Cpf Cluster Chairperson and other stakeholders made awareness to learners and also pleaded with them to not use any substances.
The police also made awareness to the learners by not forming groups which leads to fights at school.
They also emphasised on the issue of teenage pregnancy and that they also should take care of themselves. Mgwenya also urged learners to respect their parents and teachers he also added by telling the learners to study hard so that they can get achieve their goals and get bursaries to study further.
More than hundred sanitary towels were distributed to the grade 12 learners and the educators received flowers. Mbali one of the learners who received sanitary towels said that she is happy that not only are the police fighting and protecting people in our communities but they also care about our health.
